Do you really want to be healthier and more fit in the new year?
Why do I challenge you on this? Perhaps this may be a trick question? Let me set this up. Yes, I am a private gemologist and have been in the fine diamond and jewelry industry for over 30 years and this is the work and career I chose which I absolutely adore!
But I also love being a healthy, fit and energetic woman with focus and passion for living life well. In order to live life well though, it takes my daily commitment to take the necessary steps to honor my strong desire for being healthy and fit.
So, since this is my personal passion, I became a certified fitness trainer and instructor, and holistic health coach many years ago to encourage others to get healthier and more fit too. I teach fitness classes 3x per week at a great gym, and workout 7 days a week.
It’s not an easy journey staying fit…but a most rewarding one. Each and every day I recommit to live a life of wellness. This means putting myself “first”! When I take care of myself in this way, I am more focused and energetic, I feel great about my accomplishment in doing the work necessary to be fit, and I love looking and feeling my best.
Are there days when I’d rather sleep in that extra hour instead of rising early to get in a run or get to the gym before my day starts? Yes…of course! But I get up and do it anyway because my wellness is a “non-negotiable”. My calendar revolves around my fitness and nutrition schedule.
If I happen to miss a workout due to a conflict which may arise, do I just blow that workout off? No, I reschedule it for that same week so I don’t get off schedule. I keep a daily/weekly log of my workouts so when it’s staring you in the face, it’s a lot harder to make excuses.
The cool thing is you only have to answer to yourself for your own personal wellness journey, and I don’t want to look at myself in the mirror and say you weren’t worth the effort today! Nope! Not happening!
I can honestly say, once you are in the daily habit of fitness and wellness, you simply “can’t” skip your workouts. If you do, you are stealing time away from your healthy life. That is a price I am not willing to pay. There is always time to fit in a workout, even in those stolen moments in the day…the time spent adds up.
I encourage you to find a gym…it’s my family away from home. They are my workout and accountability partners, and I love having those great relationships. Group fitness families are common at the gym. You look forward to seeing your friends there, you work out and sweat together, and you form a camaraderie around a shared focus and passion.
So, I again ask you…do you really want to be healthier and more fit in the new year? If so, you’ve got to change your mindset first. Once you have your head in the right space, and put this new level of commitment in place, you can authentically say Yes! Yes! I not only want to be more healthy and fit, I am “doing” more healthy & fit.
Reach out to me if you’d like some tips or ideas on how to start your new journey as a “fit and healthy” being. There’s no time like “me time”! You’re not selfish, you are giving yourself a great gift, and in giving that gift to yourself, you are giving more of yourself to others.
Wishing you a healthier, more joyful, more fit and energetic 2025!
