As a child, I was always asking questions. I wanted to know how things worked, why people did what they did, and what might be waiting just beyond what I already knew.

The world felt full of possibilities, and every answer seemed to open the door to another question.  That was the intriguing part.

I assumed that kind of curiosity might fade as I got older. Instead, it grew with me. The questions changed, but the desire to explore stayed. I became curious about new ideas, different perspectives, unfamiliar places, and the ways the world keeps changing. I learned curiosity isn’t something we outgrow. It’s something we can carry with us throughout our lives.  We just have to exercise that curiosity!

As an adult, curiosity helps me stay informed and relevant. The world never stands still, and neither can our understanding of it. When I’m willing to learn, listen, and reconsider what I thought I knew, I’m better able to meet change with an open mind. Curiosity reminds me there’s always more to discover—and that learning doesn’t have to end when school does.

It also helps me stay focused. Following a question gives my attention somewhere to go. I find myself noticing details, connecting ideas, and looking for meaning in everyday experiences. A conversation, a book, or a new challenge can spark an interest I didn’t know I had. That sense of discovery makes life feel richer and keeps me engaged with the world around me.

Most of all, curiosity keeps me young in spirit. I don’t mean it makes me feel like a child in every way. Rather, it helps me hold on to a childlike sense of wonder: the willingness to be surprised, to ask questions, and to admit there’s still plenty I don’t know. That openness makes life feel less predictable and more full of possibility.

Exploring the unknown can be uncomfortable. It means risking mistakes, feeling uncertain, and sometimes stepping outside the routines which make us feel safe. But each time I try something unfamiliar, I discover I’m more capable than I thought. Curiosity doesn’t erase fear; it gives me a reason to move forward anyway. The more I explore, the more courageous I become.

Staying curious isn’t about chasing every new thing or having an answer for everything. It’s about remaining open—about continuing to ask, What can I learn from this? Whether we’re adults building careers, caring for families, changing direction, or simply trying to understand one another better, curiosity helps us keep growing.

I want to keep asking questions for as long as I can. The world is still full of things I haven’t seen, ideas I haven’t considered, and experiences which could change the way I think. That’s what curiosity gives me: not just more knowledge, but the courage and enthusiasm to keep discovering what comes next.

The old saying goes “Curiosity killed the cat” but I know darn well…Curiosity will never kill this Kat!!

Curiosity is what keeps me Alive!!
